Why I Started Learning About Money (and Why You Should Too)
Hi friends!
Let’s be honest- most of us aren’t exactly taught how money really works. I used to think “budget” was just a boring adult word and that saving money meant not buying iced coffee. But once I started learning more about financial literacy, I realized something huge: understanding money gives you freedom.
That’s why I started this site- to share what I’ve been learning and help other teens (like you!) feel more confident with your cash. You don’t need to be a math genius or already have a job. You just need to start small.
Here are 3 things I wish I knew earlier:
1. Saving doesn’t mean never spending; it means having options.
Even saving a few dollars a week adds up over time. I set a goal for something I actually wanted (spoiler: it was a concert ticket) and seeing the total grow was seriously motivating.
2. Budgets are not the enemy.
They’re just plans for your money. I started using a super simple spending tracker (pen + paper, nothing fancy), and it helped me realize where my money was going…and how to stop losing it to random snack runs.
3. You’re never too young to be smart about money.
Learning these skills now means fewer regrets later, and more chances to say yes to the things that matter most to you.
If you’re curious about how to start saving, how debit cards work, or why credit scores even exist, you’re in the right place. Check out my videos or follow me for more quick tips in the shorts section. And if there’s a topic you want me to cover, get in touch - I’m all ears!
Here’s to smarter choices and more iced coffee!
